Fiming day
The day had finally come!
Hair, Makeup and Clothes
We arrived at Juana's at around 5pm. and started first with makeup. I did the makeup for Emily and Olivia’s characters since they are more natural and simple, and then Juana helped me with Ashley’s since it was more complex. At the same time we were working on the hair, using rollers, a curling iron and an air wrapper. Then they changed into the outfits they had brought and were ready just in time. But, we had a problem. I still had two remaining actors, Lola (playing Maddie) and Lautaro (playing Matt), who still hadn't arrived. They were stuck in traffic and it was starting to get late.
They finally arrived around 7pm. So Juana and I prepared them as fast as we could. My main problem was that one of my actors (Delfi) had to leave at 9:30pm., which meant we had to work fast.
Constructing the settings
For the room, I left it mostly displayed as it was, with some little modifications. To give it a more messy-teenage aura, I spread some clothes on the corners of the room, threw a wrinkled blanket on the bed and hung around some pieces of accessories from the character’s wardrobes.
For the bathroom, I was originally going to film in the one in Juana’s bedroom. But, I ended up realizing it was too small and it wouldn't look flattering if they were all squeezed in there. I was discussing it with Juana when she remembered that there was a huge mirrored bathroom in the lobby of the building. I went to check it out and it was perfect. There were two large sinks in which we displayed the different makeup products.
Filming
Overall the filming was great, even though rushed. There were a lot of shots that we had to repeat because either one of the actors started laughing or I wasn't convinced on how it was coming out and wanted to repeat the shot just in case. I also faced some instances in which the actors were embarrassed to act like they were dancing and singing, which also made the shooting a little bit slower. It also became a bit unorganized because at the moment I was coming up with new short ideas that would fit very wella, but also planning them in the moment took some of our time even though they were simple.
There were some shots that because of the space display I couldn't frame as I had planned or if I did I was filming at a very uncomfortable position. Which actually was a very fun challenge. For example, on the last shot which was a low angle, I was completely laying on the ground. Or the one in which the girls are drinking the shots, my arm wasn't long enough to make the pull out as far, so it ended up looking weird.
